Part- Time Urgent Care Registered Nurse

Position Summary:  Coordinate and participate in a variety of supportive patient care activities to assist medical professional personnel in diagnostic and therapeutic procedures in the Immediate Care Facilities; administer medication and special nursing care techniques prescribed for patients.

Essential Functions:

  1. Coordinates and participates in a variety of patient care activities in the examination and treatment of patients to include: vital signs, blood draws, medication administration, mini-mental assessments, assisting with diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, using standard equipment; records data for medical record.
  2. Determine, prepare and set up medical supplies, instruments and equipment for diagnostic and therapeutic procedures.
  3. Assists in completion of insurance/compensation/disability forms.
  4. Maintain work area in clean and orderly condition; set up, clean and disinfect examination rooms; monitor and ensure appropriate inventory of medical supplies in examination rooms; replenish as required.
  5. Evaluate patient care with emphasis on patient response; monitors providers’ plan of care from patient assessments, medical record and other record information; maintains liaison with physicians and practice administration to ensure efficient and effective patient care services.
  6. Escort and/or transport patients to examination room and other clinic locations.
  7. Complies with quality assurance, HIPAA, customer focus, infection control, safety and other policies as set forth.
  8. Contributes to patient care through patient and family education, distributing resource literature and community service recommendations and referrals as needed.
  9. Maintains confidentiality of patient information.
  10.   Interacts calmly, respectfully and in a friendly manner with other representatives of services at Immediate Care.  Refers patients to proper resources for Immediate Care policies such as billing support.  Assists in clerical duties as needed, functioning as a member of the health care team. 
  11.   Delegates various levels of patient care assignments to health care team to provide highest level of service to patients and community.
  12.   Performs various laboratory testing, daily controls and additional duties as needed.
  13.   Participate in development and implementation of general policies and procedures to provide for the physical and emotional comfort and safety of patients. Maintains competence through continuing education and in-service training. 
  14.   Other duties as assigned and requested.
  15.   Attendance and being on time, ready to work your scheduled hours is an essential job requirement.

Qualifications:

  • Graduation from an accredited nursing program and a Registered Nurse in the State of New York
  • Must have one (1) year of recent acute care experience, ED experience, and prior IV experience preferred
  • Current BLS validation required
  • ACLS validation preferred or must be obtained within 6 months of employment
  • Ability to triage patient problems appropriately, seeking guidance as needed
  • Patient assessment skills
  • High degree of verbal communication and interpersonal skills to determine needs, provide information, instruct, and provide emotional support
  • Working knowledge of general office equipment including fax and copy machines, multi-line phone system, and personal computer
  • Ability to address and resolve conflict in a professional manner
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality
  • Ability to be flexible
  • Ability to travel as needed to meet operational needs
  • Strong planning, problem solving, organizational, verbal communication and interpersonal skills.

Working Conditions:

  • Prolonged standing periods
  • Moderate physical effort, including assistance to the disabled patient in transfers to and from wheelchairs, exam tables, etc.
  • Associated health risks related to patient exposure including body fluids
