About Us

History
The Exigence Group prides itself on being a dynamic, evolutionary healthcare management organization. We thrive on the ability to diversify and customize solutions within a changing market.
AN EMERGENCY DEPARTMENT FOUNDATION
Formed initially with the establishment of Buffalo Emergency Associates, an Emergency Medicine program, in 2000 at five large Emergency Departments (EDs) in Western New York, Exigence quickly became a national leader providing comprehensive solutions for hospitals and communities. Today, we serve over 500,000 patients annually.
IMPROVING IN-PATIENT CARE
In 2007, Exigence foresaw a tremendous opportunity in Hospitalist medicine for its hospital partners. The practice of hospitalist medicine is a relatively new trend for patient care, yet it can make a significant impact for both patients and hospitals. The Exigence Hospitalist staffing, management and consulting program meets the growing need for seamless care from the ED to inpatient services. Today Exigence's Hospitalist programs result in decreased length of stay (LOS) and improved patient care.
THE URGENT CARE SOLUTION
In 2005, Exigence opened its first urgent care center, seizing the tremendous opportunity to reduce ED overcrowding and to meet patients’ and community needs. Exigence has expertise and experience in business and market intelligence, site selection and facilities planning, legal and payer issues, marketing and clinical operations for comprehensive urgent care operations. The state-of-the-art facilities managed by Exigence—Western New York Immediate Care, Rochester Immediate Care and Austin Immediate Care—will meet the needs of more than 150,000 patients in 2012 in a timely and compassionate manner. Our average length of stay remains below 60 minutes and our patient satisfaction is at an all-time high. We have additional facilities in development in our current markets, and we are exploring urgent care opportunities throughout the country.
OCCUPATIONAL MEDICINE
Pulse Occupational Medicine launched in conjunction with Western New York Immediate Care in 2005. It has now been added to all of our urgent care sites to offer comprehensive health services that help businesses reduce injuries, lower costs, and promote a safe workplace. Pulse gives employees extended access to board-certified physicians and occupational medicine nurses.
MANAGING HEALTH AND WELLNESS
Exigence Healthcare Solutions and Exigence Wellness MAPHS (Management Approach to Healthcare Solutions) were created to educate and empower employers and employees in the changing healthcare market. Our customized wellness programs include health risk assessments, diet and exercise programs and also innovative programs for understanding healthcare spending and insurance. With national healthcare reform and constantly shifting insurance policies, MAPHS helps organizations and individuals learn how to navigate the evolving landscape. Exigence Healthcare Solutions was created to introduce a Patient-Centered Medical Home model into the mix. This model provides patients with a comprehensive medical team to help them with their total healthcare management through the most convenient and efficient means possible.
